The Meixi Lake Art Museum will launch a major exhibition titled "Real Topology: International Media Art Exhibition 2025" on February 19. The exhibition is curated by Zhang Ga, an internationally renowned media art curator and professor at the Central Academy of Fine Arts, serving as the chief curator. It aims to explore Changsha City's pioneering role as a global hub for media art, driving forward critical conversations at the intersection of art, technology, and ecology on the world stage.
The exhibition brings together 40 works by 45 of the world’s leading artists from 13 countries, showcasing not only the innovative practices of pioneering creators but also sparking deep reflection among audiences on the digital age through interactive and immersive experiences. Divided into three sections—“Interruptions in Reality,” “The Return of Authenticity,” and “Multiverse: Nature Without Ecology”—the exhibit traces its roots back to the dawn of the digital revolution in the 1960s, offering a comprehensive overview of 60 years of media art. It also provides a rare opportunity to explore the origins and evolution of today’s burgeoning new media art movement.
This exhibition saw the Tiandi Zhongxing team overseeing the installation of works by several domestic and international artists. Unlike traditional paintings or sculptures, multimedia installations often present unique challenges during setup—issues such as water circulation systems or power supply requirements frequently demand on-site adjustments. For instance, the stage and screen models featured in this exhibition underwent multiple iterations of equipment and design tweaks to achieve the artists' vision for the perfect display. Similarly, the "Blue Era" artwork required numerous rounds of remote communication with the international artist to refine both the layout details and the dynamic splashing techniques. Leveraging years of expert exhibition experience, the team worked tirelessly to ensure the final presentation fully aligned with the artists' exact expectations.
